Useful information about the imperial wedding table. I will tell you about basic rules, space, budget, guest management, tableau and much more
Dearest spouses, in this new article, I wanted to discuss and explain in detail a topic that many of you ask me about during the first date, namely the imperial table.
Many couples dream of eating along a beautiful imperial wedding table decorated with a dream mise en place, flowers and lights like on the covers of newspapers or on social media.
First of all, you need to understand and know that setting up an imperial table involves a series of attentions, details and technical notions that are often unknown and that could make the difference and perhaps make you change your mind.
MEASURES AND DISTANCES BETWEEN GUESTS
To calculate the length of your imperial table you will need to allow for each person a minimum footprint of 70 cm or 1 meter based on the Covid regulations in force.
Let’s pretend that each table is 2 meters long, in this case a total of 6 people could sit there (3 per side) or 4 people (2 per side) I’ll explain better below.
Example: If we have 100 guests with a minimum footprint of 70 cm per person, your table will be 35 meters long with 50 people seated on each side, a total of 100 guests.
Things change with the distance of 1 meter between one guest and another, and we would have a total length of 50 meters (always with 50 guests per side, a total of 100 people)
Pay attention to another fundamental detail, we talked about length but not width.
REQUIRED WIDTH FOR IMPERIAL WEDDING TABLE
The caterer and florist must have the necessary space to set up the table ensuring a good setup and above all a functional space for the guest.
To have a useful space to create the floral arrangement and position the mise en place, the minimum recommended width is 1 meter and 20 cm.
PLACE MANAGEMENT AND MARRIAGE TABLE
The management of the guests is very important, each of your guests must understand without a doubt where their place will be so as not to create queues, slowdowns and above all chaos at the time of table service.
To ensure that everything flows in the best possible way, you must prepare a diagram depicting your imperial wedding table also drawing the chairs where you will write the name of your guest at each seat.
I also recommend that you provide a personalized place card with the name of each guest so that the guest, seeing the tableau de mariage, immediately understands where on the table they will be sitting.
They will then find their place thanks to the personalized table card placed on the table.
OTHER IDEAS FOR THE TABLEAU DE MARIAGE
You can plan for cards, a personalized object, a wall with lots of small envelopes or keys, a Ferris wheel, a choreographic glass of champagne, etc.
Write the guest’s name and surname + a number for each object, envelope or glass.
The same number will then be reported on the menu or on the place card at the table.
The numbers you assign must be positioned progressively on the side of the table, so that it is easy and quick for guests to find their place.
For crazy and alternative spouses: You can plan a treasure hunt or a series of questions asked ad personam so that the place is assigned only after the guest has passed the test or answered the question correctly.
This takes a little more time on the schedule, but it will create a group and will certainly entertain your guests.
It’s up to you to create the best context to entertain them. Who knows them better than you?
Remember that guests at a wedding must have fun and keep a positive memory of your day.
HOW TO MAKE AND WHERE TO PLACE THE TABLEAU DE MARIAGE
The Tableau must be positioned and displayed at a specific time of day, I recommend you read this article: Tableau de mariage: Ideas and advice for the most important and creative element of the wedding
SET-UPS AND BUDGET
To decorate an imperial wedding table we must consider that the materials you will use to decorate it (flowers, candles, fabric runners, cake stands, bottles, etc.) must be present along the entire length of the table in order to create harmony and continuity.
The space dedicated to the centerpiece of a round table is proportionally smaller, consequently less material will be needed.
Just think that for a rectangular table measuring 2 m x 1.20 m the space for the flowers will be 2 meters long and 40/50 cm wide
For the round table, however, a diameter of about 60 cm will be enough.
You understand well that the proportions are different and this will have a significant impact on the cost!
For 100 people divided into 10 round tables of 10 people, 10 centerpieces will be needed.
For 100 people on a 35 meter imperial table, 35 linear meters of setup will be needed, or even worse, 50 meters if the distance between guests must be 1 meter.
10 centerpieces used for round tables WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH to decorate 35 meters or 50 meters of an imperial table!
An imperial table with 30/40 cm holes creates an empty effect where it is clearly visible that something is missing, then it is up to you to choose, it is a subjective matter, everyone is free to do as they wish.
